These posts stay free because I don’t believe good writing should live behind a velvet rope.

Nobody’s counting the sway of your hips, baby.
And isn’t that the joke!
We trained our stillness like a second language,
fluent if we just stopped moving long enough
when no one was even looking.
We sat for years in rooms where the air was made of glass,
swallowed it, called the bleeding professional restraint.
Yet the body dreams the bassline
before the mind can negotiate.
Something volcanic rising.
Something tectonic under it all.
It never asks permission from the part of you
always performing its own funeral.
Look at the woman in the cathedral
singing like the walls are only suggestions.
Her voice cracks, and the crack is the realest part,
where everything breaks open into something human.
She sings like her life depends on the sound leaving her body,
like the dark itself might answer back.
We love like we’ve decided to survive the loving,
both hands soldered to the live wire,
the current moving through us whether we like it or not.
Genius does not live in the clean room.
It lives in the messy apartment:
plates stacked in the sink,
unfinished symphonies in the corners,
and Fenrir in the closet
the great wolf,
the one that swallows suns
you’ve been feeding by hand for years.
You know the wolf. The wolf knows you.
Dance like a drunk man on the side of the road, unashamed,
moved by the music the sober cannot receive.
Love anyway.
Sing with the real voice,
the one you’ve kept in the back drawer,
the one that sounds like you’re alone on the face of the world
and have decided to stay.
Live like the earth is already made of heaven
and you keep forgetting you’re inside it,
turning and turning,
no one counting
the sway of your hips.
Thank you for reading my work!
Hi, I’m Nicole. You can read here a bit about myself!

I am a published writer. Curriculum of Feelings is a haunting, six-part journey that spans centuries and species, a visceral exploration of the “Problem of Evil.”
Through a collection of short stories, you follow five distinct vessels: a poetess silenced by her world, a slave who finds freedom in language, a tree that witnesses history’s worst acts, a whale carrying a dying song, and a boy tracking a collapsing future. Each life is a lesson in humility, humanity, and pain.
